Working with Me

Maybe you found me through a YouTube video, took the Nervous System Check-In, sat in one of my workshops, or just landed here directly. However you got here, if you’re wondering what it looks like to go beyond the free content and work with me one-on-one, this page is your answer.

Who I Can See

If you live in California, Utah, or Wyoming: I can see you for individual or couples therapy via telehealth. This is licensed clinical work; not a workshop extension, and not coaching.

If you live anywhere else: state telehealth law means I’m not able to offer you therapy. What I can offer is nervous system regulation and/or Trauma Erase Method coaching. These are separate, non-clinical services.

Coaching is not therapy, does not diagnose or treat any condition, does not include EMDR or other trauma-reprocessing work, and isn’t protected by the same confidentiality laws that cover therapy. It’s a good fit if you want structured support applying what you’re learning in the workshops and videos to your life; it’s not a substitute for treatment if you’re working through significant trauma.

What is the difference between therapy and coaching?

Therapy is licensed clinical treatment. It’s available to clients in California, Utah, and Wyoming. In therapy, we can assess and treat trauma and other mental health concerns, including trauma-reprocessing work like EMDR, and your sessions are protected by the confidentiality laws that cover clinical care.

My coaching takes an education-first approach. You learn through video lessons, such as the Trauma Erase Method course, and through teaching-focused conversations where I explain how the nervous system and trauma responses work. Then I help you apply what you’re learning to your relationships and daily life.

Coaching doesn’t diagnose or treat any condition, doesn’t include EMDR or other trauma reprocessing, and doesn’t create a therapist-client relationship. It’s also not protected by the same confidentiality laws as therapy. Coaching is a good fit if you want structured guidance putting these skills into practice. If what you need is treatment, I’ll tell you directly and help you find a licensed therapist where you live.

If you’re outside CA/UT/WY and want therapy, not coaching: I keep this site’s coaching option honest by not stretching it to cover clinical work I’m not licensed to provide where you live. The best place to find a licensed therapist in your state is Psychology Today’s therapist directory — I’m glad to help you think through what to look for if that’s useful.

How It Starts

  1. Book a free 15-minute consult. This is a real conversation, not a sales call. We’ll talk about what you’re looking for and whether I’m the right fit.
    • Therapy consult (CA/UT/WY): Book here →
    • Coaching consult (everywhere else): Book here →
  2. Intake. Paperwork, consent forms, and a fuller picture of your history and goals.
  3. Fees disclosure. You’ll know the exact cost, cancellation policy, and (for therapy clients) insurance/superbill options before your first paid session (see Insurance & Fees).
  4. First session. We begin.

Couples vs. Individual: My Policy on Seeing One Partner

If I’m working with you and your partner together and one of you wants individual sessions (most often this comes up around an EMDR intensive for betrayal trauma or when individual trauma responses disrupt couples therapy dynamics) here’s how I handle it:

I’ll see one partner individually, but only with the other partner’s informed consent, and only after we’re all clear on what I will and won’t keep confidential between the individual work and the couples work. You and your partner will know exactly where that line sits before we start; nothing shifts quietly in the background. If at any point that structure stops feeling workable for the couples work, we’ll talk about whether individual work with a colleague is a better fit going forward.

Intensives Require a Pre-Intensive Assessment Because Sometimes the Answer Is “Not Yet”

Every EMDR intensive (individual or couples) starts with a required 1-hour pre-intensive assessment, included in your intensive fee. In that session, we look at:

  • Whether dissociation is present and, if so, how it shows up for you
  • How your system typically responds to stress
  • Your current strengths and resources, and where the gaps are

Most of the time, this confirms an intensive is a good fit, and we schedule it. Sometimes it doesn’t. For example, if the assessment surfaces dissociative symptoms or a stress-response pattern that needs stabilization work first, a condensed multi-hour intensive isn’t safe to do yet. If that’s where we land, “not yet” isn’t a no; it means we build a short stabilization plan together first, so that when you do the intensive, your system can actually use it.

If You’ve Been in a Workshop with Me, Here’s What Changes When You Become a Client

This section is specifically for you if a workshop is part of your story with me. I’m genuinely glad when someone I’ve met through a workshop decides to go deeper, and I want to be upfront that becoming a client is a real shift, not just “more of the same.”

  • We start over on paperwork, on purpose. Anything shared in a workshop’s group setting was psychoeducational, not clinical. Becoming a client means a full new intake, consent, and (for therapy clients) diagnostic conversation, even though we’ve already met.
  • Confidentiality gets stronger, not weaker. Workshop confidentiality is a mutual ask among participants; therapy confidentiality is a legal protection specific to you as my client.
  • The relationship has one shape at a time. While you’re my client, I won’t ask you for a workshop testimonial or put you in a position where the two relationships blur.
  • You can still take future workshops. Being a client doesn’t disqualify you from workshops later, we’ll just talk in advance about how to keep the group space feeling equally safe for everyone in it.

If you’re arriving here without any workshop history, none of the above applies to you.

Fees

To keep this simple (and to make sure you’re never looking at two different numbers on two different pages), fees, cancellation policy, and insurance/superbill information live in one place: Fees & Insurance →. That page is the single source of truth for pricing; everywhere else, including here, links to it rather than restating numbers.

For self-pay intensives, you’ll also receive a Good Faith Estimate before booking, as required under the federal No Surprises Act.

Where to Go From Here

If you live in California, Utah, or Wyoming: explore individual therapy, couples therapy, or one of the focused intensives: the EMDR Intensive or the Couples Therapy Intensive.

If you live anywhere else: the HeartMath Stress Management Program is four coaching sessions focused on nervous system regulation. If you’re working through my free Trauma Erase Method video course, you can also join the monthly coaching call.

If you’re not ready for one-on-one work: start with the free Nervous System Check-In or the Nervous System Regulation Taster Workshop, which you can join from anywhere.
