Learning to Feel Safer in Your Own Body – Nervous System Skills Group

A gentle nervous system skills group to support your trauma therapy

What this group is

This is a small online group for adults who are already in trauma therapy and want more support for their nervous system, not just their thoughts.

We focus on simple, repeatable practices that help your body feel a little safer and more settled, one step at a time.

This might be a fit if…

  • You understand a lot about your story, but your body still feels on edge.
  • You leave sessions clearer in your mind, but your body snaps back into “high alert” between appointments.
  • You’re tired of feeling like you’re doing everything “right” and still can’t fully relax.

You don’t have to know any science or have done groups before—just a willingness to be gentle with yourself and try some new tools.

What we do together

In group, we:

  • Learn a little about how the nervous system works (in very down-to-earth language).
  • Practice HeartMath®-informed breathing and coherence tools to help your body find steadier rhythms.
  • Explore ways to notice your body’s signals without getting overwhelmed.
  • Go at a pace that respects your limits, with lots of choice and consent.

There is no pressure to share details of your trauma story.
You can participate in whatever way feels safest for you.

How this supports your therapy

This group is meant to support, not replace, the work you’re doing with your therapist.

The goal is that over time you can:

  • Recover more quickly when you get activated.
  • Arrive to sessions feeling a bit more grounded and resourced.
  • Have more room inside to do the deeper healing work you and your therapist are already doing.

Group details

  • 8-week online group (there are two subsequent 8-week groups to help you anchor the work deeper for those who are interested)
  • 75–90 minute meetings once a week
  • Small group size so there’s time and space for everyone

You’ll be invited to practice short exercises between sessions and notice what changes for you.
