When stress becomes a physiological pattern,
willpower isn’t the answer.
A structured 4-session HeartMath® stress management program for adults ready to work directly with their nervous system — led by a HeartMath Trauma-Sensitive Certified Practitioner with over 30 years of clinical experience.
The Research
Chronic stress is a physiological pattern — not a character flaw
It’s a nervous system that has adapted to high demand by staying activated, even when the threat has passed.
The research on this is unambiguous.
Most approaches to stress ask you to think differently about it — to reframe, to breathe, to set better limits.
Those things matter. But they work best when the body is already regulated enough to receive them.
HeartMath works at the level of the autonomic nervous system — specifically the heart-brain communication pathway — to shift your physiological baseline from depletion to renewal. The research behind these techniques spans 30 years and includes applications in healthcare, education, athletics, and the military.
Access to this level of physiological feedback has changed dramatically. HeartMath’s first public HRV biofeedback device wasn’t available until the early 2000s. By 2013, the Inner Balance™ app made real-time heart coherence feedback available via smartphone — removing the clinical equipment and specialist access that once made this work out of reach for most people (McCraty, Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback, 2022).
This program brings that research and technology into a structured, personally guided 4-session experience.
About Your Guide
Tamara Ridge, LMFT · HeartMath Trauma-Sensitive Certified Practitioner
Tamara Ridge has been working at the intersection of nervous system science and clinical practice for over 30 years. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, trauma-informed clinician, and HeartMath Trauma-Sensitive Certified Practitioner, she brings a depth of somatic understanding that goes well beyond technique instruction.
Her relationship with biofeedback began at 17, when she first encountered it as a tool for managing debilitating migraines. What she couldn’t fully grasp then — and what decades of clinical practice, personal healing, and nervous system study have revealed — is how profoundly unregulated stress underlies the majority of physical and mental health struggles her clients bring to her. That recognition, hard-won over a lifetime, is the foundation of everything she teaches.
She works with high-functioning adults, trauma survivors, and people who have exhausted cognitive approaches and are ready for something that works at the physiological level.

The Science
Why HeartMath Works
HeartMath’s research demonstrates that heart rate variability coherence — achieved through specific emotional and breathing practices — produces measurable changes in cortisol and DHEA levels, cognitive function, immune markers, and autonomic nervous system balance.
The heart communicates with the brain through neurological, biochemical, biophysical, and energetic pathways. When the heart enters a coherent state, the entire system follows.
These are not relaxation techniques. They are physiological regulation tools backed by peer-reviewed research and validated across clinical, organizational, and educational settings.
Questions
FAQ
Is this therapy?
No. This is a structured wellness coaching program. It is not psychotherapy and does not establish a therapeutic relationship. If you are looking for therapy, please seek a qualified professional in your area.
Do I need any prior experience with HeartMath or meditation?
None at all. The program is designed to be accessible whether you’ve never tried a breathing practice or you’ve been meditating for years.
What do the sessions look like?
Each session is 60 minutes, held via secure video or by phone. We’ll practice the techniques together, review your home practice, and prepare you for the next phase of the curriculum.
What if I need to pause or reschedule?
Sessions can be rescheduled with 24 hours’ notice. The program is designed to be completed within 6–8 weeks, but we can extend as needed.
Do you offer the Inner Balance biofeedback device?
The Inner Balance™ app is introduced in Session 3 and is available for purchase separately through HeartMath. It is optional — not required to complete the program — but many clients find it a meaningful addition to home practice.
Is $800 the only option?
The standard 4-session package is $800. If you’re interested in extended support — a 5th integration session, ongoing monthly check-ins, or the Inner Balance device — reach out and we can discuss what makes sense for you.
Stress at this level is not something you push through.

Stress often has roots in past relationships that taught your nervous system to stay on guard. If that sounds familiar, my step-by-step guide on how to heal from past relationship trauma shows how calming your body is the first step toward trusting again.
Wondering about therapy costs?
The HeartMath Stress Management Program is a self-pay wellness coaching program and isn’t billed to insurance.
