We work as an out-of-network provider.
That’s a deliberate choice. Being out-of-network means your care is built entirely around your goals — not around session limits, mandatory diagnoses, or treatment plans dictated by an insurance company. You and I decide what your therapy looks like, together.
How this works for your wallet
Most health insurance plans include out-of-network benefits, even if you’ve never used them. In practice, that means your insurance can reimburse you for a meaningful portion of what you pay for sessions with me — often 60-80%, depending on your specific plan.
Here’s how we make it simple:
- During your free initial consultation, I check your out-of-network benefits for you directly — so you’ll know what to expect before you ever book a full session.
- You pay for your session as normal.
- I submit your claim automatically the same day as your session — no superbills to track down, no paperwork on your end.
- Your insurance reimburses you directly, based on their “allowable amount” for out-of-network care.
Why this is often a better deal than it sounds
In-network therapy can look cheaper upfront, but it often comes with hidden costs: limited session counts, required diagnoses on your permanent record, and a therapist whose caseload is shaped by what insurance will approve rather than what actually helps you. Out-of-network care means your treatment stays private, flexible, and focused on you — and we handle the reimbursement logistics, so you don’t have to.
Session Rates
$225 per 50-minute session for individual sessions.
$250 per 50-minute session for couples and family sessions.
Payment
Cash, checks, debit cards, FSA cards, Venmo, and all major credit cards are accepted. Payment is due at each session. Credit card payments carry a 3% processing fee, and returned checks carry a $50 fee.
Cancellation Policy
Life happens, and plans change — but to make sure every client has fair access to session times, we ask for at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Missed sessions or cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice are subject to a $225 fee, due at the time of the missed session. Please note: Your insurance company will not reimburse you for a missed session fee.
Services These Fees Apply To
The session rates above apply to individual therapy and couples therapy, both available online to clients in California, Utah, and Wyoming.
If you’d like to do focused work in a single extended session, the EMDR Intensive and Couples Therapy Intensive are self-pay. You’ll receive a Good Faith Estimate before booking, and you may still be able to get out-of-network reimbursement.
Living outside California, Utah, or Wyoming?
I can’t provide therapy outside the states where I’m licensed, but I do offer coaching, which isn’t billed to insurance. Working with me one-on-one explains how coaching differs from therapy, and the HeartMath Stress Management Program is a good place to start.
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your health care will cost
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have certain types of health care coverage or who are not using certain types of health care coverage an estimate of their bill for health care items and services before those items or services are provided.
- You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any health care items or services upon request or when scheduling such items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
- If you schedule a health care item or service at least 3 business days in advance, make sure your health care provider or facility gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing within 1 business day after scheduling. If you schedule a health care item or service at least 10 business days in advance, make sure your health care provider or facility gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing within 3 business days after scheduling. You can also ask any health care provider or facility for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you do, make sure the health care provider or facility gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing within 3 business days after you ask.
- If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more for any provider or facility than your Good Faith Estimate from that provider or facility, you can dispute the bill.
